tell those people to step up and try to hit a 98 mph fast ball or a 12 to 6 curveball then ask them if its a sport.

I'd be pretty out of breath if I had to do a home run.

I class sports as either physical or intellectual/skill based so darts and chess etc fall under the latter.

I'd say baseball is a sport but unless you're a pitcher or a batter a really lax one if you just stand there out in the grass running around from time to time like you're doing something you're not really in the game I'd say.

Why people tend to want to do that in school since it's so easy and uneventful.
If they got paid like footballers I don't think anyone who plays the field would deserve 100 million dollars or even half that a year that would be barbaric.
It does take skill and speed to run and catch the ball but it's not like you have to be almost super human if the ball's coming his way even the fat kid in school can catch it easily and throw it back so I'd never class it as anything of an extreme sport.
I'd like to see the fat kid steal bases, hit a home run, hit a 95 mph fastball and oh, play defense. Stop trying to simplify the game of baseball.

I'm sorry, but I absolutely hate baseball bashers because they literally know nothing about the sport. It isn't easy. I may have only played in middle school, but as a kid who couldn't hit a fastball for his life, I can tell you it isn't easy. Can't just grab a bat and swing. Good luck with that.

Now, do you need to be more physically gifted for a sport like football? Yes, but you still need to be atheltic to play baseball, and damn well better be very athletic too.

yah, I agree with mago, I only play slowpitch now and even then, against a good pitcher you have too be a good athlete to even make contact let alone be hitting homers 6 beers deep.

baseball and golf are in my top 5 toughest sports to play at a high level. and until you actually go out and try to play at a high level you just wont understand.

This thread is very disrespectful, it'd be like me posting a thread on a Yankees forum stating that "Rugrats" is an anime. If you can't tell the difference, don't speak on it.

Since we're here I gotta say I'm tired of the hype about soccer. They all call it The Beautiful Game. What about motherf***in baseball, that's a beautiful game, probably with more aspects to it than soccer! Every October me and my dad watch the later rounds of the MLB playoffs and the World Series. I don't know much about baseball but I learn a lot from my dads knowledge of the game. I was surprised that he knew so much! He has schooled me about the rules, strategies, positions, the (recent) history of the game. It's awesome. We're Canadians btw ;)

A rule for every sports fan: never ever bash another sport. Just because you like one sport, doesn't make another suck. Just thought I'd say it.

That applies to a lot of things really. It's possible to give your opinion without being hateful. Unfortunately it seems that some people don't know how to do that.

soccer would be a good sport to watch if it wasn't for all the diving, for me atleast.obviously theres something right about it as its the most popular sport on earth.

There's not that much diving. At least not in the English leagues anyway. I think people appreciate the ball skills and the ridiculous physics breaking shots at goal that actually get in the net somehow. Plus the amazing saves that the goalkeepers make. Oh and crunching tackles. Gotta love those. Especially two footed ones. Oh and the crowds. Those brilliant chants and that roaring atmosphere.

If you're referring to me, I honestly hate when people bash baseball. 99% of the time they know zero and shouldn't have even opened their mouth about it.

Haha I must admit though I like soccer, just enough to jump on the bandwagon every 2 years. I just don't like all the hype it gets. Then again a soccer fan somewhere is probably criticizing all the hype the Olympics get :p
